On January 15 in 1947, the body of Elizabeth Short was found severed in Crenshaw District. Her body was hacked in two, reportedly with a butcher knife. Many believe that she was alive yet unconscious, at the time she was being held by the limbs with rope or a ‘tying device’, and severed in two.
After being drained of her blood, her body was delivered to the Crenshaw District where she was discovered in the early morning by someone passing by. The passer-by reported seeing the body bruised and battered, with grass being forced into her vagina and signs of Elizabeth being sodomized after the death.
As shown from the photos above, her mouth line is cut, and portions of the skin are missing from the upper and lower torso.
Upon the release of the news of the murder within the press, several men and women admitted to the crime, but police could not validate anyone’s stories. All admittance to the murder reported to the police were seen as fake, and even from today the killer has still not been found.
